Margaret Lynn "Peggy" Byrd Altman, 86, widow of E. V. "Billy" Altman, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 in the McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Altman was born on April 9, 1929 at Taxahaw in Lancaster County, SC, a daughter of the late Hoyt Charles and Ruth Holden Byrd. She was a graduate of Flat Creek High School and Winthrop College, she taught school in Florence County, and for 10 years was the Librarian of the Johnsonville Public Library. She was known and loved by many people in the community and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She was predeceased by a son, E. V. "Win" Altman; brother, William Blake Byrd; sister, Jean Byrd Wallace.
