Officer Michael W. Craig, DSN 7439, received his commission on 08/11/1969 and entered the Saint Louis metropolitan Police Department. After completion of the academy he held the following assignments during his career. They were the 7Th, 4Th, Office of the Chief, Prisoner Processing Division, Bureau of Field Operation's, and finally the 5Th District as an Administrative Aide. Officer Craig retired on 08/28/1989 having served 20 years and 17 days of faithful and dedicated service to the department. On 10/29/1990 Officer Craig returned to the police department as a civilian employee and started as an Administrative Aide at the Area II station. This assignment was followed by a Administrative Aide at Area III, Executive Assistant at the Board of Police Commissioners', and finally as a Executive Aide at the Division of Criminal Investigation. He retired from civilian service on 04/23/2009 completing another 18 years, 5 months, and 25 days of service to the department. Officer Craig was a veteran of the United States Navy having served as a Hospital Corpsman 3Rd Class Petty Officer during the Vietnam War.

Beloved husband of Janis L.(nee Schmitt) Craig; loving father of Lori (Chris) Beel and Kimberly Robins; cherished grandfather of Antonio Robins, Katie Beel, George Washington, Connor Beel and Jordyn Washington; dear brother of Eileen (the late Tim) Hossenlopp; Jim (Tanya) Craig, Kevin (Colleen) Craig, Alan (Edie) Craig, Steve (Anita) Craig and Patricia Craig-Corley; dear brother-in-law of Rick (Carol) Schmitt; our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend. Son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Laurel & Mary E. (nee Meer) Craig.

Mr. Craig was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as a Naval Corpsman with the Marine Corps during Viet Nam, and was a Police Officer with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years and then worked as a civilian for the Police Department retiring in 2009.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Sunday, August 30, 4-8 p.m. then to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 765 Lemay Ferry Rd. on Monday for visitation from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m.
