“Again on the 20th, the citizens of this place were called to attend the funeral of Samuel Agard, formerly of this place, but at his death a resident of the town of Wayland. About twenty-two years ago his father died at this place and at that time he was taken sick; soon after an abscess formed…which no doubt shortened his life. He leaves a wife and three small children and a large circle of mourning friends to mourn his loss. Rev. S. Wright delivered an interesting sermon from Psalms 23:4, and his remains now rest in our cemetery.”
