MARIAN B. MILLER, 100, OF CONCORD; ACTIVE IN COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS
A funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Trinity Episcopal Church, Concord, for Marian B. (Blackall) Miller, who was active in Concord community affairs.
Mrs. Miller died Tuesday in her home in Concord at the age of 100.
She was born in Cambridge and attended Cambridge public schools. She graduated from Radcliffe College in 1911 and served as secretary of her class for many years and Alumnae Trustee from 1919 to 1925. She was also a past president and member of the Idler Club.
She had been a Concord resident since 1920 and was named Concord's Honored Citizen in 1981 in recognition of her many contributions to the community.
She was active in The Concord Players with her late husband, Hans W. Miller, and served as the group's secretary from 1922 to 1942. She was president of the club from 1942 to 1964 and was honored by the Players in 1982 at a performance of Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women."
Mrs. Miller was also a member of the Antiquarian Society, now the Concord Museum, where she was museum guide, secretary and chairwoman of the Costume Collection. She was a children's librarian at the Concord Free Public Library from 1942 to 1957.
She was a member and former president of the Concord Woman's Club, a member of the Friends of Alcott House, Friends of the Old Manse and the Concord Art Association. She was also a member of the Bay State Historical League and the Ladies Tuesday Club and wrote a history of the club on its 50th anniversary.
A longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Mrs. Miller wrote a history of the church and taught Sunday school there for nearly 20 years.
Mrs. Miller leaves her son, William B. Miller of Waterville, Maine; two daughters, Barbara R. Cushwa of South Hadley and Joan Sparrow of Orleans; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
Private burial will be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.

A recent [2018] inquiry with the funeral home concerned has revealed that her ashes were ultimately scattered in the Authors' Ridge and Chestnut Hollow areas of the cemetery.
