Waynesboro,Ms Police Dept.
James (Jamie) Walker was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on a suspected stolen van in Waynesboro,Ms near the city library.
After stopping the vehicle,Jamie approached the driver's side of the van,and the driver opened fire with a shotgun,Jamie was shot in the face.Waynesboro,is a small country town where everyone knows everyone.The crime rate is very low,Jamie was the first police officer to be killed here.He had served with the Waynesboro Police Department for 2 1/2 years.
He is the father of two beautiful little girls and the son of James Otis and Linda Cooley Walker.He will forever be missed by his children,parents,rest of his family and all of Waynesboro.Rest in peace Jamie

Update
As of Aug.2007,James Hartley,confessed to killing Jamie Walker.He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Walker Memorial Highway — a portion
of U.S. Highway 84 from Mississippi
Highway 184 to John
Dykes Road inWayne County —
will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday,
Nov. 12 at Little Rock Assembly of
God Church, which is located off
Highway 63 between Waynesboro
and Clara.
