Ruby Hicks Bentley, 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Ruby was a native of Garrett, Kentucky and a Seaford resident since 1964. Ruby retired from Fort Eustis in January 2000, after 33 years of service. She was a member of Seaford Baptist Church. Ruby enjoyed researching her family history and volunteering at York Convalescent Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Bentley and a son, Richard Bentley and is survived by her sisters, Ethel Hunter of Loveland, OH, Ruth Battle (Jim) of Orange Park, FL and Darlene Palmer (Arnold) of Williamsburg, VA; 4 brothers, Danny Hicks of Seaford, Bobby Hicks (Cherry) of Clay City, KY., Scotty Hicks (Ellie), and Joe Hicks both of Lexington, KY and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday, August 28, 2015 in Amory Funeral Home. A Celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Seaford Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Seaford Baptist Church, 1311 Seaford Road, Seaford, Virginia 23696. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home.
