Rose was the daughter of James H. Patton and Nancy (Hart) Patton.

Rose was first married to an Albert Love.

She married Aden Gardner in Carroll CO, TN on February 03, 1887.

The Tennessean" Nashville, Tennessee Thursday, April 5, 1917 MRS. ROSA L. GARDNER Trezevant, Tenn. April 4 -- (Special) The remains of Mrs. Rosa L. Gardner, who died at her home in Memphis, were brought to this place and interred in the city cemetery. Funeral and burial services were conducted by Rev. Lewis, her former pastor, of Memphis, and Elder E. F. Adams, pastor of the local Baptist church. Mrs. Gardner was reared here and was about 67 years old. She is survived by her husband, two daughter, Mrs. B. H. Hillaman of Trezevant and Miss Martha Love, who lived at her mother's home; one son, Dr. A. G. Love, major surgeon of the United States army, located at Ft. Gibbons, Alaska, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Herron and Mrs. Nannie Dickson, both of this place, and one brother, Harry Patton of California.
