Otis Eugene Leapheart, 72, of Russellville, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born April 21, 1943, in Blackwell to Hilman Welton and Gennie Mildred Black Leapheart. He was a graduate of L.W. Sullivan High School in Morrilton. He retired after 28 years from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, and was the owner/operator of Leapheart Backhoe Service, serving as the cemetery service man for 26 years for Shinn Funeral Service. He was a volunteer for the Conway County Fire Department, a former Conway County Reserve Police Officer and a leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Catherine; a son, Tony of Fort Smith; two daughters, Joy of Russellville and Donna of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mildred of Detroit, Michigan; a granddaughter, Anisa of Russellville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Tyrone Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Rose of Sharon Cemetery at Blackwell, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
The visitation will be 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Maxfield, Johnnie Carolina, J.C. McDaniel, Freddie E. Armstrong Jr., Edmond Cunningham, Vincent Roseburrow, Jimmie Debardelaben and Marcellius Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Leapheart, Charles Leapheart, Louis Leapheart and Lucas Roseburrow.
