Lucile Sudweeks Nelson Kunz, 89, returned to her Heavenly Father on August 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Lucile first opened her eyes in this beautiful world on March 26, 1926 in Manti, Utah to Alvin and Emma Sudweeks. She married Glen Aaron Nelson on May 10, 1947. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 18, 1956. Together Glen and Lucile had three children, Robert, Steven and JoAnn.

Lucile was the oldest of nine children and learned the value of hard work early in life. She was raised in Manti and graduated from Manti High School. During high school she worked at the parachute plant during WWII. After the war ended she went and worked at the sewing plant sewing collars on shirts and jackets. During her married life she worked side by side with her husband Glen running the farm and coal business and her home, while raising her family. She later worked at Ephraim Elementary as a teacher's aide.

Her life was filled with much love and many talents. Lucile was a master crafter excelling in cross stitching, sewing, cooking, gardening and homemaking. She tended to and had a beautiful rose garden. She had many friends and enjoyed her visits with them.

After Glen's passing Lucile married Vernon Kunz and they retired to St. George. They enjoyed traveling and most of all spending time with their grandchildren.

Lucile was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great love for her Heavenly Father and remained faithful and is the true example of enduring to the end, even when facing many of life's greatest challenges.

Lucile is survived by her children: Robert (Peg) Nelson, Steve (Mirreo) Nelson, JoAnn (Roger) Kesterson; grandchildren: Randy (LeAnn) Nelson, Jennifer (Patten) Sorensen, Mike (Corby) Nelson, Taylor (Kara) Nelson, Desiree (Barry) Sorenson, Corissa (Drew) Brunson, Whittney Kesterson, Brenden Kesterson; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; sisters Elaine Sudweeks and Carol Mathews; and her brother Kay Sudweeks.

Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday August 29, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Manti City Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Manti Red Church.

We would like to give a special thank you to Bob and Edith Christensen, Mendy Stucki, and Diane of Elderberry Care Center, Shauna, and Vanessa at Dixie Home & Hospice for their loving care of our special mom and grandma.
