Alfred Marts married Josie Hill on January 29, 1896, in Ottumwa, Iowa. The couple were later divorced. In the 1910 and 1920 Census for Ottumwa, Josie Marts stated that she was widowed, and from the 1925 Ottumwa Census on, Josie, widowed, and their children's last names appear as Martz. Alfred and Josephine were the parents of Russell, Ethel, Iscel, and Floyd.

A.M. Marts married Lizzie Call on September 27, 1912, in Warren County, Illinois. His parents names on the marriage record were James A. and Ella (George) Marts. Evidently Alfred and Mary were divorced and remarried, as Alfred was married to Mary Lee Call Mooney on October 21, 1921, in Ottumwa. Alfred and Mary were the parents of Orville, Hazel, and Dorothy.

Alfred was married to Mae Mooney on May 15, 1931, in Ottumwa. Neither is mentioned in the other one's obituary, nor are they buried together.

Alfred was married to Mamie G. McGlothlen on July 19, 1940, in Ottumwa.

Alfred M. Marts, 63, died suddenly at his home, 132 West Myrtle street, at 10 a.m. today. Although he had been under treatment for a heart ailment for some time, he was not thought to be critical. He was found dead by his brother Harvey.

He was the son of James and Ella Marts, born near High Point school west of Ottumwa in Wapello county. He had lived in the county all his life.

Surviving in addition to his brother Harvey are a second brother, Marion, of route 2; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Rosenburg of Des Moines, Mrs. Iscel Dodds, Miss Hazel Marts of Ottumwa and Dorothy Marts of Des Moines; two sons, Floyd of Ottumwa and Orville of Des Moines.

The body is at the Johnson mortuary pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
