SWANTON — Edwin R. Barnard 86, of Hazelhurst Rd., Swanton, died at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va. on Friday Aug. 21, 2015.
He was born in Westernport, on Sept. 18, 1928, and was the son of the late William S Barnard and Margaret (Conn) Barnard.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lamberson and two brothers, William and Paul Barnard.
Ed was Protestant by faith and attended the Divine Church in Oakland.
He graduated from Bruce High School in Westernport.
He retired as an electrician from Westvaco Corporation with 41 years of service in 1990. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to hunt and fish and watching the Pirates and Steelers.
Ed is survived by his loving wife and companion, Colleen (Moses) Barnard and his daughter, Kathryn Kellems and husband, Mark, of Newburgh, Ind.; and his son, Paul D. Barnard and wife, Ellen of Bloomington. He is also survived by two sisters, Orva A. Mitter and husband, Jack, of Franklin, and Mary Pratt of Dell City, Okla. and two brothers, Glenn Barnard and wife, Nancy, of Damascus, and Charles L. Barnard and wife, Lurene, of Franklin. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Erik, Jordan and Trevor Goodge, Spenser and Alex Barnard and two great-grandchildren, Allysen and Hydee Goodge and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va., on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, from 4 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at funeral home on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jason Buckley of Divine Hope Church officiating.
Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Barton.
