Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Joe and Laura Fitzpatrick Thomason. He was retired as manager of Petrolane LP Gas Company and was a member of the Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Mr. Thomason was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Virginia Pinson Thomason; and a sister, Candice Thomason.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Adams, Athens; sisters, Geraldine Allen, Charlotte, N.C., Laura Berryman, Athens, and Eva Craft, Ila; brothers, Jack Thomason, Buddy Thomason, and Aubrey Thomason, all of Ila, Caiphas Thomason, Watkinsville, Walter Thomason, Summerville, S.C., and the Rev. W.D. Thomason, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Shannon Marie Adams and Joshua Scott Adams.
