A. V. VANVELZER PASSES SUDDENLY IN 82ND YEAR

A resident of Aylmer for the past 20 years, Americas V. VanVelzer, was found dead in the garden at his home on John street south by two neighbours on Friday morning, April 21st. J. W. Free and Wm. Blanchard, who were painting the house next door found the body about 8:30 when coming to work. The attending physician stated that the man had been dead from twelve to fifteen hours, and believed that he had suffered from a heart attack when he was working late in the day in his garden. No inquest was held. Born at Calton 82 years ago, he was the son of the late John VanVelzer and Jane Saxton, and he remained on the homestead farm until about 20 years ago, when he moved to Aylmer at the time of his wife's death and has lived here since that time. Mr. VanVelzer was a member of Aylmer Baptist church, and is survived by one daughter, Mabel, of Detroit, and one brother, W. E. VanVelzer, of Wroxeter, Ontario. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Atkinson Funeral Home with a large number of relatives and friends present. Rev. F. J. Helps of the Aylmer Baptist church was in attendance. Beautiful floral tributes surrounded the casket and consisted of wreaths, pillows and sprays. The pallbearers were Lorne James, Frank Mott, Geo. Rozelle, Fred Kaiser, William Candy and Edward Johnson. The flower bearers were Keith Bodkin, Charles Clarke, Roger Partlow and Laurie VanVelzer. Interment was made in the Calton cemetery. Relatives were present from Detroit, Wroxeter, St. Thomas, Calton, Union and this district.
