OTTUMWA - Verna M. Bachman, 88, of 701 S. Davis died at 8:57 a.m. Dec. 10, 1996 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born May 3, 1908, near Belnap in Davis County to William Elmer and Mollie E. Ehrmann Ault. She married Wray O. Bachman on March 10, 1929, in Bloomfield. He died June 8, 1959.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life. She was a member of the Davis St. Christian Church, the Home Builders Sunday Class, the Christian Women's Fellowship, the Esther Group, the Myrah Rebekah Lodge No. 41, the New Perspective for Widowed Wives and the Morrell Retirees.
She is survived by two sons, Roxie Weston Bachman and Larry Bachman of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Charlie, Dewey, Orville Ault and an infant brother.
The service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Davis St. Christian Church, the Rev. William Flewelling officiating. Burial will be in the Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Thursday at the Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Tom Rea, Alan Frederick, Steve, Mike and Bryan Blumer and Randy Bachman.
Memorials may be made to the Davis St. Christian Church or the Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation for Lifeine.
