Paul Behrends, 87, of Bourbonnais, passed away Monday (Feb. 13, 2017) at Miller Healthcare in Kankakee.

He was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Ashkum, the son of Henry and Minnie Weimer Behrends.

In 1953, he married Harriet "Jean" Curphey. He married Dorothy Fred on April 18, 1981. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2015.

Mr. Behrends served in the U.S. Air Force during Korea. He was a retired 30-year employee of Armstrong World Industries. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bradley.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, David and Cherish Behrends, of Escondido, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Mark DeVries, of St. Anne, Ginny and George Backer, of Littleton, Colo., and Lori and Mark Holcom, of Lyons, Ore.; three stepsons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Glynn Cailteux, of Ashkum, Terry and Laurie Cailteux, of McKinney, Texas, and Dean and Teresa Cailteux, of Clifton; two stepdaughters and one son-in-law, Judy and Milton Hull, of Clifton, and Janet Hooker, of Paragould, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.
