KATHERINE COX
June 19, 1914 ~ September 1, 2002

Haworth resident Katherine Baxter Cox, 88, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Paris, Texas. She was born June 19, 1914, at Avery, Texas, to Patrick and Irma Baxter.

Katherine Cox was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County and was affiliated with the Church of Christ. She had been a member of the Eastern Star.

She always took great joy in having her family gather around, proving how very family oriented she was. Katherine and her husband, Ted, were married 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick Henry and Irma Baxter; her husband, Ted Cox; her son, Leo Cox; her brother, Mike Baxter; her sisters, Marzell Fischer, Artie Zangarine and Marie Cox; and her son-in-law, Harold Pierce.

Survivors include her sons, daughters-in-law and their families, Ted Jr. and Claudean Cox, Susan, Ted III and Chad, all of the Pleasant Hill Community, Lem and Lujuanna Cox, Blake, Amanda and Benton, all of Tom, and Mary Cox, Donna and Billy, all of the Union Grove Community; her daughters, sons-in-law and families, Loree Pierce, Jack and Jim, all of the Pleasant Hill Community, Allene and Cleatus Fuller, Troy, Kathy and Richard, all of the Union Grove Community, and Nell and Donnie Powell, and Shane, also of the Union Grove Community; a brother, Pat Baxter, Idabel; three sisters, Pauline Stansell of Hindsville, Ark., Betty Jo Hardwick, Hochatown and Edna Joiner, Idabel; a special cousin, June Robertson, Avery, Texas; and 30 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Haworth Assembly of God. Interment will follow in Haworth Cemetery.
