A son of David Kinison and Sarah O'Daniel, John was the husband of Nancy Jane Durham. In later life he suffered from what appears to have been epileptic seizures, and willingly moved to Spencer Hospital where he sought help. He died there, and though his sons tried to bring his body home for burial, they could not afford the cost and John was buried at the hospital.
