Mrs. Bessie Hawks, wife of Otis Hawks, Austinville, passed away at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, February 20, at the home of relatives in the Gossan Mines section, near Galax, after an illness from pneumonia.
Mrs. Hawks was a daughter of Otie Hanks and wife, Mrs. Janie Smith Hanks. The husband and other near relatives survive.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, at eleven o'clock, at Hickory Flat Church, and burial was in the Smythers Cemetery.
