Thomas Henry Carlton was born 28 Jun 1832
in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to
Wade H and Sarah Putman Carlton. He died
2 May 1906 in Weakley County,Tennessee.
He is buried in Cox Cemetery.

His obituary was in the Dresden Enterprise on
11 May 1906: It stated that he was a well
known minister in Gleason. He was trying to
cut off a limb that had a bee hive on it to
catch the bees in a basket. He was swarmed
by the bees all over his head and face.
He died a few hours later. Physicians think
he burst a blood vessel while running. The
deceased was the father of Wade Carlton,
who was pastor of the Dresden Methodist
Church. Thomas out-lived both of his wives.

He married Martha A Poole on 28 Oct 1852 in
Weakley County, Tennessee. Martha was born
19 Apr 1834 in Tennessee to Giles B and
Elender Poole. She died 7 Dec 1870 in Weakley
County, Tennessee

Rev T Carlton was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 159, Washington, Weakley County, TN. He was a Methodist minister. He was in Company D of the 12th Tennesse Infantry as a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. A photocopy of his Tennessee Conderate Pension Application is on file at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Copies are available. Application # S5830

His second wife was Luvania A Vaughn married on 22 Apr 1874 in Weakley County, Tennessee. Luvania A Vaughn was born in 1832 and died 15 Feb 1905. She had no children.
