Irishtown, Oct 4 - George H Groft, one of the oldest residents of Adams county, died last Sunday night at his home at Irishtown. The Thursday previous he received a stroke of paralysis, which rendered him unconscious and in this condition he remained until his death. He was aged 84 years, 2 months and 17 days. Deceased was a life-long resident of this section and was well-known. Surviving are five sons, Aloysius (Mt Rock), George P (Irishtown), Lewis (Edgegrove, Joseph (Mt Misery) and John (McSherrystown); also one daughter Mrs Mary Ackerman (Irishtown). As descendants there are 48 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs Louisa Stonesifer (McSherrystown) is a sister and there is another sister residing in the West. Mrs Groft died about 30 years ago. The funeral was held from Conewago Chapel on Wed morning. Interment in the Chapel Cemetery Full obit in Adams County Independent (Littlestown PA) 10/5/1907, Sat.
