MARSHALL '97 Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Allex, 87, of Marshall, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today with a prayer service at 5 p.m. at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall and Thursday from noon-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
Irene died Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Minneota Manor Healthcare Center in Minneota.
Irene Lorraine Allex was born Feb. 1, 1921, to Dwight and Lydia Gee in Stanley Township. She and Clem Allex were married July 9, 1945, in Green Valley. Clem died July 23, 1988. Irene was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved cooking for her family and especially making cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Both freezers were always full of treats and her home was welcoming. She loved playing cards with many groups, enjoyed her farm club ladies and was happy volunteering at the hospital gift and thrift shops.
Survivors include sons Tom (and Jeanne), Rick (and Sara), and Don; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Sylvia Gee and Marie Allex.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Harold and Merlin Gee.
