Mass of Christian Burial for Leanore Aarhus was held on Friday morning, July 28th, 2006, at 10:00 AM, at St. John's Catholic Church in Appleton.

Casketbearers were Daniel Aarhus, David Bonk, Glenn Erickson, Albert Heldt, Jeff Konieczny, Gary Running, and Bryan Smith. Interment was at the Appleton City Cemetery.

Leanore Clara Aarhus was born on October 25, 1914, in Edison Township, Swift County, to Albert and Anna (Glisky) Konieczny, Sr. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Edison Township. Leanore attended rural school through the eighth grade in Edison Township at District #61.
Following her marriage to Olaf Aarhus on October 10, 1940, they moved to the farm in West Bank Township. Olaf died in 1974 and Leanore continued to live on the farm until 1979 when she moved into Appleton. When her health began to decline she moved to the Good Shepherd Community in Sauk Rapids in 2002.

While living in West Bank Township she was a member of the CCW at Visitation parish in Danvers. Leanore enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and vegetable gardening. Leanore was extremely honest and straight forward. She was an immaculate housekeeper, a good cook, and a great baker of bread and pie. She spent many hours at the nursing home visiting her siblings. She was very kind and loving to her children and grandchildren.

Leanore died on Friday evening, July 21st, at Appleton Area Health Services. She had reached the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

She is survived by two children: Gerald (and Harriet) Aarhus of Danvers, and Barbara Smith of Rogers; six grandchildren: Sarah (and Craig) Brett, Jane (and Brent) Bagley, Daniel (and Robyn) Aarhus, Suzanne (and Benny) Creed, Bryan (and Tia) Smith, and Jennifer (and Brian) Warner; ten great-grandchildren: Steven, Lauren, Mitchell and Joseph Brett, Bridgette and Adrienne Bagley, Jacob and Shawn Aarhus, and Katelyn and Tyler Warner; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Olaf, in 1974; twin daughters, Denise and Desiree, in infancy; granddaughter, Elizabeth Aarhus; son-in-law, Lynn Smith; four brothers: Frank, Rudolph, Albert and Edward Konieczny; and eight sisters: Barbara Konieczny, Agnes Holtey, Gunda Taylor, Virginia Kashmark, Edna Bonk, Maggie Heldt, Marjorie Dow, and Lucille Karrigan.
