Samuel Harris was born on Aug 3, 1896, in Richland Township, Decatur County, Iowa, to Anna Hewlett and John M. Harris. At the age of 7 years with his parents and 4 older sisters, he moved to Saline, Kansas. His father John Harris passed away 3 years later in Saline, Kansas. At the age of 10, he was left the man of the house.

Samuel Harris received a common school education in Saline County, Kansas. In 1915 Samuel returned to Decatur, Iowa with his mother and sisters Grace & Edith and attended high school and worked on the family farm in that area. After his mother's death in 1927, Samuel Harris returned to Kansas. In Saline County, Kansas he worked for a trucking Co. Samuel Harris married Nora around 1928~1929. By 1940 with his wife Nora, Samuel Harris moved to Minnesota. He farmed in this area for the next 42 years.

Samuel Harris was a loving son, husband brother & uncle. He was a member of the [Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of] Latter Day Saints.

Preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant siblings, sisters: Minnie Jane Harris Engstrom Michelsen, Kansas, Grace Harris, Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa, Mabel Harris, Bavaria, Saline County, Kansas, Ora Harris Armstrong, Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas, and Edith Elma Harris Dickerson Beckey, Salina, Saline County, Kansas.
