Amanda Matilda Colburn was born 12 Nov 1832/3, in East Albany, Orleans County, Vt., the daughter of Iran and Celana Cicso Colburn. She married Albert Farnham about 1853 in Albany. From July 1861 to May 1865 she served as a nurse with the 3rd Vermont Volunteer Infantry with her brother Henry Colburn. She was present at the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg and others, and later served under Dorothea Dix. On 3 Mar 1891, she received a pension from the government by special act of Congress (#553504).

After the war she married (c1865) Marshall P. Felch (1834-1902), son of Parker and Hannah Gould Felch. Amanda died 31 Dec 1893 and is buried with Marshall in the GAR section of Greenwood Pioneer cemetery, Canon City, Colorado.
