Mrs. Abel was born Oct. 3, 1900 in Tenhassen Township, Martin County. She moved with her family to the Grand Forks, ND area, where she received her education. She married Charles Abel June 12, 1922, at Grand Forks. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm in Martin County. They farmed there until 1955. They moved into Welcome in 1968. Mr. Abel died in 1974. She was a member of St Paul's United Church of Christ, its Ladies Aide, the World War I Auxiliary and the Fairmont Community Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include 6 sons, Walter (Carolyn), Arnold (Boots), Edwin (Marlene) and Howard (Eileen) all of Welcome. Irvin (Faye) of New Ulm, MN and Norman (Sue) of Fairmont: 2 daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Koons (Richard) and Mrs. Joan Riegel (John) of Elk Grove Village, IL. 26 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Leo Rosenberg (Loretta) Fairmont MN, and William Rosenberg of Florence OR: 4 sisters, Mrs. Tina Biehler, Mrs. Eva Pugsley (Clayton), Mrs. Erin Rich, all of Fairmont MN Mrs. edna Shumaker of Stockton, CA many nieces and nephews.
