Edith L. (Ritchey) Cunningham, 74, of Kaw City, Oklahoma, died Sunday (August 2, 2015) at her residence. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday (August 13, 2015) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home with Chaplin Mike Sweetman officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple City Cemetery.
Edith was born May 13th, 1941, in Prescott, Arizona, to Bert Eldwin Ritchey and Retha Fern (Hyland) Ritchey. She moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, at a very young age where she began grade school. In 1950, when she was in the 3rd grade, Edith and her family relocated to Wickenburg, Arizona, where she remained until she graduated from Wickenburg High School on May 27, 1960. Edith married Clefford William Cunningham May 28, 1960, in Wickenburg, Arizona. They lived in Oklahoma for a short time, then moved to Wellington, Kansas where Cleff started working for the Santa Fe Railroad. He then transferred to Arkansas City in 1962, where they moved and lived for 28 years before retiring and moving to Kaw City. Edith lived her remaining years in Kaw City until her passing. Edith was a waitress, homemaker, operator of a family custom swathing and bailing business, and a meter reader.
Edith is survived by her daughter: Laura Ann (Cunningham) Alhomsi of Kaw City, OK; her son: Clefford William Cunningham, Jr., of Wichita, KS; two sisters: Patricia Mae (Ritchey) Keel and her husband Bob of Union, OR, and Helen Loraine (Ritchey) McCrain and her husband Jack of Huntington, OR; sisters-in-law: Sharon Ritchey of Congress, AZ, and Emma Terry Ritchey of Surprise, AZ; granddaughters: Hanneah Jamal Ramadan of Ponca City, OK, and Aishah May Alhomsi of Kaw City, OK; three grandchildren: Alexzander Wayne Mackey, Zamir O’Darius Vann and Zafirah Ava Marie Vann of Ponca City, OK; and too many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives to mention, but not forgotten.
Preceded in death by her parents Bert Eldwin Ritchey and Retha Fern (Hyland) Ritchey, brother James Edward Ritchey, sister Charlotte Irene Ritchey, husband Clefford William Cunningham, brothers Bert Eldwin Ritchey, Charles Clifford Ritchey, and Robert Wayne Ritchey and a sister Betty Jean (Ritchey) Lovett.
A memorial has been established in her honor to the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City
