Ester Lois Adams, 90 of Mangum, died Friday evening July 7, 2006, at Mangum Community Hospital.

She was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Vinson to Kerty and Ina (Dilbeck) Watson. A 1934 graduate of Vinson High School, Lois married Delaware C. Adams on Oct. 6, 1934, in Mangum. Initially, they made their home in the Reed Community but later moved to Stephensville, Texas in 1946. They moved back to Mangum in the 1950s. Moving to Martha in 1959, she worked in the cafeteria of Martha Public School for more than 18 years, retiring in 1979. After her retirement, she and Delaware moved back to Mangum and made their home until her death.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she loved quilting, fishing and working in her garden and yard. Out of all her pastimes, spending time with her children, grandchildren and other relatives and friends was her favorite. Early in life, she became a member of the Church of Christ. She first attended the Vinson and Reed congregations and in 1954 she began attending the Mangum Church of Christ where she was very active in singing for special events and participating in all church functions until four weeks ago when her health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Verla Nabours, Lura McGehee and Lela Hendricks; three brothers, Olen Watson, Floyd Watson and Eldon Watson; her husband Delaware of the home; five children, Sue Smith and husband Henry of Reed, Jerry Adams and wife Janell of Mangum, Janice Wooten and husband Frank of Shawnee, Shirley Ludwick and husband Ron of Duncan and Karen Brooks of Blair; one sister, Noveta Dixon of Florida; 16 grandchildren, Pam Burnam, Cheryl Batey, Kevin Adams, Kim Sauceda, Amy Callins, Robert G. Adams, Cyndi D. White, Linn Wooten, Rodney Wooten, Pam Wooten, Krystall Wooten, Steven Ludwick, Tracey Helmka, Michael Langham, Jennifer Shaw and Lori Langham; along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held today at the Mangum Church of Christ with Roger Todd officiating. Interment was to follow at the Reed Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to The Tipton Homes.
