From the 12/1/1914 Van Wert, Ohio, Twice-A-Week Bulletin; "Dr. T. Jax. Cole, an old and widely known resident of this town, died Sunday of paralysis, at his home on South Walnut street. Dr. Cole was stricken last Thursday and never regained consciousness. Dr. Cole was born in Wilmet [sic], Stark county, January 27, 1854 and came to Van Wert in childhood with his parents, the late Mr. and Mr. Esekiel Cole, who for years were engaged in the hotel business. Dr. Cole studied medicine in Cincinnati and after being admitted to practice resided in this town, Crown Point and Mansfield. He returned to Van Wert a little over one year ago and again resumed practice here. Dr. Cole was everywhere regarded for his gentlemanly manner and his kindly consideration for those with whom he came in contact. He was of a bright mind and possessed a commendable energy in all of his affairs of life. His direct survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Geo. L. Potter, of Des Moines, Iowa, and Miss Tyrone Cole, of Indianapolis, and one brother, Billie M. Cole, of this town. The funeral will be held this morning, at ten o'clock, at the Vore Undertaking parlors, on East Main street. The body will be laid at rest at Woodland Cemetery."
From the 12/01/1914 Van Wert, Ohio, Daily Times: "The funeral of the late T. Jax Cole of this city, who died Sunday morning as the result of a stroke of paralysis, will be held from the Vore undertaking parlors on East Main Street this morning at 10 o'clock with interment at Woodland.
Dr. Cole was a native of Stark County, where he was born Jan. 27, 1854; he came to this county with his parents when but a boy and save for a few years spent in Crown Point and Mansfield, has made his home here ever since. He returned to this city from Mansfield about a year ago and resumed the practice of medicine. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Tyrone Cole of Indianapolis, and Mrs. George L. Potter of Des Moines, Ia., and one brother, Billie M. Cole of this city."
