After 1865 Thomas Ashby died (or disappeared) and by 1870 his widow and children were living with (or near) her father Ephraim Butler and his second wife Julia Emily Veazey Goodger Butler in Franklin Co. AL.
William B. Ashby was born about 1865 probably in Montgomery County, Indiana. William was still alive in 1940 and listed in the census for Prentiss County, Mississippi, living with his grandson Frank Davis (Find a Grave #78760722) and his family. His son Ira Eugene Ashby listed his father William B. Ashby, living at Rt. 3, Booneville, Mississippi, as the contact person in his WWII draft registration dated Oct. 16, 1940.
William B. Ashby's first wife was Eliza Ann Tice (daughter of Henry and Henrietta Tice), and the children born about 1890 to 1905 were from this marriage. He married Tennie Campbell about 1917 or 1918.
