Roland Talmadge "Bogie" Jones, age 94 and resident of 2722 Stuart Drive, died Friday afternoon at Duke Hospital. Born in Durham, he was the son of the late Rowland Talmadge Jones and Lena Barnes Jones.
Mr. Jones served in the U. S. Navy. He attended Duke University and was a retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service. Mr. Jones was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Bogie was an avid outdoorsman and had a special affection for surf and pier fishing at Atlantic Beach. His enthusiasm for life will be remembered by his many friends.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Dare Andrews Jones and two brothers, Leon "T Bone" Jones and Cecil Jones.
Surviving is one nephew, James D. Andrews and his wife, Chris of Raleigh and one niece, Theresa Jones Gjennestad of Hartsville, SC.
