Frances Louise Potts May was born October 30, 1922 in Hall County to Wilber and Joanna Potts. She married David Dalton May on August 6, 1944. Louise, as all of her family and friends knew her, lived all her life in and around Memphis. She graduated from Estelline High School as valedictorian of her class. She and Dalton spent just a few short years moving around the Texas Panhandle until moving for good back to Hall County in 1954. She was a farmers wife that got very involved in the daily farming operation with Dalton. She went every day to help in the field or as she got older went to make sure Dalton stayed safe. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing. Up until she went into the hospital July 11, she worked 18 crossword puzzles every day. She loved to get into scrabble game with her grandchildren and would beat their socks off. She wore out David’s college dictionary and a second dictionary to make sure she got her crossword puzzles correct. She was very active and drove her pickup until her 92nd birthday at which time she gave up her drivers license and got a Texas ID. In October 2014, she moved in with her son, David in Brenham, TX (or came to stay as long as she wanted). She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX and while in Brenham went to First Baptist with David’s family. She will be missed by her children and especially her grandchildren.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY – her parents; her husband, Dalton May; her daughter, Marilyn Carter; a granddaughter, Melissa Webber; and a sister, Mazine Lester.
