Son of Daniel L Williams and Lavisa Brazil (Braswell) of Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He married Fannie Vick Rogers 7 Jan 1869 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. D. G. Williams served the Confederacy during the Civil War, in the 34TH Alabama Infantry Regiment, Co. E. He was a prisoner at Rock Island, Illinois and after being parolled, was sent to Richmond, VA. (Confederate pension application)

Daniel & Fannie had twelve children.

D.G. Williams Dies In Dallas Hospital

D. G. Williams, familiarly known as "Uncle Green", was stricken with his last illness while attending the recent reunion of Confederate veterans in Dallas, Texas. He died in the Old Soldier's Hospital there May 27, and was brought back to Arcadia for burial and laid to rest in the Arcadia Cemetery May 28, Rev. Oden of Bryceland conducting the services. Local members of the American Legion also assisted in the services.

"Uncle Green" had been a resident of this section practically all his life, moving here from Alabama when but a small child. (Incorrect: Daniel moved to Louisiana circa 1867). He was a member of the Baptist Church, joining this church 51 years ago. He is the father of 12 children, eleven of whom survive him, as follows: John Lamar, Thomas Fouts, , and Ed Williams, Miss. Kate Williams, Mrs. J.P. White and Mrs. H.A. Burnham, all of Arcadia; Mrs. J.M. Ferrell, of Longview, Texas; Mrs. C.C. Slaughter, of Rochelle; Mrs. J.N. Morrow, of Eros; J.F. Williams, of Nocona, Texas; and Drayton Williams, of Huntsville, Texas.

Mr. Williams' wife preceded him in death by 33 years.
