Mrs. Cherry Busby of Waynesboro, Miss., died at the home of her dauhter, Mrs. j. N. Shows, Feb. 10, 1932, from pneumonia, the attack lasting four days. She was born June 3, 1836 and was 96 years old. She would have been a centenarian had she lived a few years longer. She lived through three great wars, the Civil, Spanish and World War. She was a unique personality and possessed many fine traits of character. Although born in a primitive time, she readily enjoyed the progress of modern civilization. She never forgot her friends, and strove to remember every act of kindness to her. Mrs. Bushy was married to Jerry Busby in 1861. He died 33 years ago. She drew a pension as a veteran's wife, and was never dependent upon any person. Born to this union were 10 children, of whom 6 are living. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nancy West and Mrs. Prudie West of Waynesboro. Her daughters are Mrs. J. N. Shows, Mrs. J. Chapman, Mrs. Aristia Boutwell, Mrs. Lavinia Magingo all of Waynesboro; Mrs. Mag Tyner. Hattiesburg and Mr. Jethroe Busby of Waynesboro. Her descendents are ten children, 77 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; 4 great -great-grandchildren. She and her husband raised four orphan sons. There were 57 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren. From this great host of her own Immediate descendents with 67 ln-Iaws, there were 187 offsprings, making a total of 254 people. She was a Baptist and lived a beautiful Christian life. We miss her sweet voice, but we would not call her back to this sinful world.
