Born Oct. 20, 1946, in Aberdeen, Miss., to the union of the late Charles S. Ivy Sr. and Ruby Mae Young Ivy. He was granted eternal rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at North Knox Medical Center.
Mr. Ivy is a 1964 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He was united in holy matrimony to Cherry A. Bohanon on July 9, 1966.
Mr. Ivy was a former employee of Reel and Slusher and retired in 2012 from Lockheed Martin, having worked at K-25 as a barrier operator and Y-12 as a chemical operator.
He enjoyed photography, gardening, and fishing. He was known throughout East Tennessee for his special grilling expertise and often participated in the festival held in Jackson Square.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles (Bam); two brothers, Robert and Larry; and one sister, Ruby Lee Capers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, devoted wife, Cherry; devoted daughter, Ramona and her husband, Booker Leslie; son, Rayshawn Freeman; sisters, Wanda Sue Jones and Marie (Poolie) Ivy; brother, Douglas Ivy; grandchildren, Chaz, Chalmers, Jaquori, Javon, Charles, Tyrece, and Brookelyn; great-granddaughter, Lariah; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Cordell Bohanon, Warren K. Mims officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park and will conclude with a dove release ceremony. Flowers may be delivered to the church Wednesday morning.
