Mr. George Theodore Acklin, Sr., age 69, of Gassville died Monday, July 3, 2006 at Gassville Nursing Center. He was born July 12, 1936 at McPhearson, to Dora and Ethel Mae (Berry) Acklin. He married Joyce Ellen Cox on November 16, 1957, at Norfork, and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Acklin was a warehouse manager, working at Mar-Bax for 35 years.
Mr. Acklin is survived by 2 daughters: Anita (Jim) Seaman of Gassville and Jane (Gary) Wilkes of Ash Flat; 1 son, George Theodore (Ted) Acklin, Jr. of Gassville, 3 sisters: Maudie Hopkins of Lexa, AR, Lucille White of Calico Rock, and Nora (Lincoln) Simmerman of Lone Rock, 1 brother John (Hazel) Acklin of McPhearson, 4 grandchildren: Amanda and Jimmy Seaman of Gassville, Nicole Sawyer and Sarah Wilkes of Ash Flat, 3 great-grandchildren, Desiree Sawyer, Noah Sawyer, and Matthew Bryant of Ash Flat, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 4 brothers, Amos, Herschel, Griffie, and Dewey, and a sister Flora Chism.
Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Thursday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday in the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ray Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in Gassville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Curtis Cemetery Fund
