Peter Levering Barratt of West Chester

Peter Levering Barratt, 88, died Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Bellingham Retirement Community in West Chester. Born on May 2, 1927 in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, he was the son of Norris Stanley Barratt, Jr. and Evelyn Rodman Barratt.


He resided in West Chester for many years.

Peter is survived by his brother, Henry Drayton Barratt (Theresa) of Dumfries, Va. and their extended family, and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norris Stanley Barratt, III.

Peter and his brothers were very active in the 1930’s and 1940’s in riding, fox hunting and participating in horse shows. Peter served as a U.S. Marine at the end of WWII and enjoyed many years in his antiques and garden statuary business.

Peter will lie in repose at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com; where relatives and friends are invited from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2015.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, August 10, 2015 at Barratt’s Chapel and Museum, 6362 Bay Rd, Frederica, DE, 19946.

Interment will be in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery in Frederica, DE.
