"Memphis, Mo. - Earl J. Birk, 71 of Memphis died at 5 p.m. Friday at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
"Mr. Birk was born August 5, 1915 in Canton, Mo., a son of William E. and Isabelle Rost Birk. He married Beverly Lewis July 15, 1951 at Warrenton. She died in February, 1985.
"Mr. Birk attended grade school and high school in Canton and attended Culver-Stockton College and the University of Missouri at Columbia. He served in the Air Corps in World War II. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose the American Legion, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
"Surviving is a daughter,. . .
"Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Payne-Gerth Chapel in Memphis by the Rev. Kenneth Campbell. Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes or Cancer Associations."
