Dick R. Bovard, 71, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 12:10 AM, Saturday, August 1st, 2015 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. Dick was born in Milan, IN on January 26, 1944, a son of the late Rachel (Scudder) and Warren Bovard. He was raised in Ohio County and was a graduate of Rising Sun High School, Class of 1962. Dick worked as a pipefitter for Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, retiring in 2001 after 26 years of service. Before working at Seagram's he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Byrnes-Conway Construction in Cincinnati, OH for 15 years. On July 17, 1965 at the Rising Sun Church of Christ he married Audrey Clifton Bovard, who survives him. Dick and Audrey recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dick was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ as well as the Pipefitters Union Local 392 and the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge. Dick enjoyed going to car shows, his tractors, tools and working on the farm. His family was his greatest joy, he loved going to whatever event his grandchildren were involved in, his loving wife and children made sure he was able to.

In addition to his devoted wife Audrey, Dick is also survived by a daughter, Tammy Schwing (Scott), of Rising Sun; a son, Trevor Bovard (Micky), of Rising Sun, IN; by 4 grandchildren, Riley, Jacob, Maddy and Rachel; a sister, Jeanette Rhodes, of Plainfield, IN; by several nieces and nephews and by other family members and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers, Willard, Paul "Pat", Carl, Robert "Bob", Joe & Hartzel Bovard and by sisters, Mary Ellen Remle, Olive Detmer, and Doris Bunch. Funeral services will be at 6 PM, Thursday, August 6 at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Br. Greg Matthew officiating. Friends are invited to call Thursday 3-6 PM at Markland Funeral Home.
