Eugenia Baird Jackson passed away July 24, 2015. Born in Marietta, GA August 2, 1930 to Elizabeth Northcutt Stephens Baird and Floyd Eugene Baird, she was baptized at St. James’ Episcopal Church.
Gene attended Marietta High School and Ashley Hall, Charleston, SC. She graduated in 1951 from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University of Louisiana where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. For many years she worked in the banking industry and retired from Wachovia National Bank in 1992. Gene was proud to be a direct descendant of the settlers of Cobb County and particularly of her grandfather’s business, W. P. Stephens Lumber Company and her father’s contribution to Kennestone Hospital.
She is survived by her brother William Stephens Baird (Freda); husband Frank T. Jackson; daughters Elizabeth Jackson Crowley (Peter), Merrell Woodyard (Butch), Suzanne Jackson Mitchum; grandsons Jack Woodyard and Cole Woodyard. The interment was at St. James’ Episcopal Cemetery, Marietta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 4795 N. Peachtree Rd., Dunwoody, GA 30338. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta was in charge of the arrangements.
