Mr. William Gordon Britton born June 19, 1928 departed this life on Sunday August 2, 2015 at his residence in Hazard being 87-years, 1-month, and 13-days old. Bill was born in Hazard, Kentucky the son of the late Foster Britton and the late Opal Begley Britton. Bill was also preceded in death by his Wife, Etta Rose Britton; Brother, James Clark Britton. Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in the Korean War, a member of the Hazard Lodge #676, a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church in Hazard, and actively volunteered at the Hazard Hospital. By occupation Bill was a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the State of Kentucky, working most of his career here in Hazard, and a brief period in Berea.

Mr. William Gordon Britton leaves the following relatives surviving: Daughter, Jane Rose Britton of Hazard; First Cousins, Laura Bell Thompson of Columbus, OH and Mary Jayne Schrock of Ft. Myers, FL, and a host of many friends, relatives and Church Family also survives.

Funeral Services for Mr. William Gordon Britton will be conducted on Thursday August 6, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on East Main Street with Rev. Ellen Peach officiating. The Interment will follow in the Englewood Cemetery located at Christopher, Kentucky. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Wednesday Evening from 6:00 till 9:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Hazard or the Housing Development Alliance.
