Avery Seaward Lantz 1956 Halifax Chronicle Herald

Friends and business associates throughout Lunenburg County and elsewhere will learn with regret of the sudden passing of Avery Seaward Lantz at his home in New Germany at an early hour on Sunday, July 1st., following a heart attack. He was for many years a familiar figure in the business life of this county, first as a general merchant in New Germany, later expanding his business to branch stores in Bridgewater and Mahone Bay, where he did an extensive flour and feed business.

Following his retirement from retail merchandising, he was active in the real estate business, with extensive interests in this business at the time of his death.

Mr. Lantz was 63 years of age, a son of the late Calvin Lantz and Elizabeth Borgald Lantz and was born in New Germany. Surviving are his wife, formerly Edna Veinot; one daughter, Evelyn (Mrs. George Zwicker); two sons, Eugene, proprietor of Lantz Store and Chester, proprietor of West End Service Station, all of New Germany. There are nine grandchildren; one sister, Miss Jennie Lantz; two brothers, Hurdie, New Germany and William, Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Funeral services will be held from the Lutheran Church, New Germany, on Tuesday, July 3rd., at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. James Slack, pastor of the Midville Lutheran Parish and Rev. Frank Locke, pastor of the Barss Corner Baptist Church, of which the late Mr. Lantz was a member. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.
