Enlisted as a Private on 27 Mar 1917 in Co H, 1st Infantry NY National Guard and was transferred on 10 Oct 1917 into Co E, 102nd Engineers, 27th Division US Army. He was sent overseas on 17 May 1918, departing from Newport News, VA aboard the USS Pocahontas. He left Brest, France on 03 Mar 1919 aboard the USS Agamemnon and arrived at Hoboken, Hudson Co, NJ on 11 Mar 1919. He was promoted to Pvt 1st Class on 06 Jan 1919 and Honorably Discharged on 03 Apr 1919.

WED TO ROSS L. HOAG
Ross Locke Hoag of Deposit and Miss Ruth Ida Demoney of Oquaga Lake were united in marriage at 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at 62 Union Street, Gloversville. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. John Polhemus of 60 Allen Street, Johnson City. Mrs. Polhemus is a sister of the bride. The trip to Gloversville was made by auto to the home of Rev. Merrill, formerly pastor of the First Baptist Church of Johnson City. The young couple will make their home on one of the farms of the Certified Milk company which sells milk in Johnson City and Binghamton, with which company Mr. Hoag has a position. Mrs. Hoag is a graduate of Johnson City High School.
