He was born on Oct. 24, 1919, in Catawba County to the late Perry Gordon Fisher and Addie Whitener Fisher.
He was a lifelong member of Faith United Church of Christ. He retired from Forest City Tool and the Hickory Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Fisher was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the Hickory Coffee Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Keith Fisher; a sister, Vada Yoder; and two brothers, his twin, Russell Fisher and infant, Joe Fisher.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frances Bumgarner Fisher; a son, Eddie Fisher and wife, Kathy, of Taylorsville; a sister, Dolly and husband, John Hahn, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Clyde Fisher and Ray Fisher and wife, Betty, of Hickory; four sisters, Jamie Bumgarner of Conover, Rececca Estes and Phyliss and husband, Jim Burns, of Hickory and Ruth and husband, J.D. Gaston, of Cherryville; five grandchildren, Jeff and wife, Emily, and Amanda of Hickory, Nathan and wife, Laurie, of High Point, Robert Spencer of Boone and Amy and husband, Gary Saine, of Granite Falls; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Fisher, Aaron Spencer, Payton Spencer, Blake Saine and Steven Saine.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
