Trenna was born 8 September 1887 in Keno, Oregon -- the first of the McCormick children born after Thomas and Georgianna Andrews McCormick settled in Klamath County. She was their ninth child. Trenna -- fondly known as "Tena" -- grew up in Keno and attended school there. She was a bit more reserved than some of her sisters.
On 8 October 1905 , soon after her 18th birthday, Trenna married Clyde Nickerson of Keno, but was a widow by age 23. She was living in her parents home again by the 1910 U.S. Census. On 25 September 1912, she and Bayard "Mac" McKimens married in Klamath County. Mac was a veteran of World War I.
Their marriage was announced in the newspaper:
Klamath Falls Northwestern
Vol. I, September 1912:
"DAUGHTER OF PIONEER WEDS
Bayard T. McKimmens Takes Trenna A. Nickerson as Bride.
Bayard T. McKimmens and Mrs. Trenna Nickerson were married at 9 o'clock yesterday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Mills in the Hot Springs Addition. the Rev. Geo. ______ officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Mills acted as best man and bridesmaid and the ring ceremony was used. Following the wedding, refreshments were served to a number of friends of the contracting parties. Mr. McKimmens is a prominent young man of the Keno section and Mrs. McKimmens is the daughter of Thomas McCormick, one of the best known pioneers of the country. They will make their home at Keno."
The couple began their marriage in Keno, but Mac was and Oregon State brand inspector so they also lived at times in Olene, Tulelake, and Klamath Falls. Although she and Mac didn't have children, Tena took a very active part in raising her brother Lyle Dale McCormick's daughter.
