Grace E. Acock, 95, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, while a resident of the John Knox Village in Lee's Summit, Mo. She was born April 29, 1920, in Kansas City, Kan. Grace spent most of her adult life in both Whittier, Calif., and Kansas City, Mo. While a resident in California, she was a member of the East Whittier Christian Church, and enjoyed being a member of the choir. Later in life, she became a member of the Blue Ridge Blvd. Christian Church. Grace worked as the administrative assistant to the vice president of the Southern California Edison Company for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she fulfilled a term as the president of her chapter. Grace lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel and socialize with good friends. She enjoyed reading, music, playing cards with friends, and fine art. Grace married the love of her life, Clyde W. Acock, in the year 1949, and was married for 32 years prior to his death. Whereas Grace did not have children of her own, she was blessed with nieces and nephews, who loved her very much. These include Kathy, Howard, Linda, Sharon, Donald, Ronald, Sheri Lynn, Diane, and Lauren. Grace was also surrounded by loving friends, some as close as family, including Ron and Sharon. Services will be at 12 p.m. Friday, July 31, at the Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral.
