The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31 at 10:30 AM at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson, with Rev. Cathy Allen officiating. Interment will be in the Clarkson National Cemetery with military honors by The American Legion Sucha Post 302 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at New Zion Presbyterian Church and continue on Friday from 9:30 AM until service time also at the church. Memorials are to be directed to the church.
Emil Studnicka was born on July 15, 1920, to Frank and Stephanie Mary (Pekny) Studnicka on a farm in Stanton County, Nebraska, near Clarkson, Nebraska. He was educated in Stanton County and Colfax County Schools. He helped out on the family farm before entering the United States Army on August 11, 1942. He served in the 535th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Weapon Battalion and saw action at the Battle of the Bulge in Normandy, and battles in England, Belgium, and Germany during World War II. Emil was honorably discharged on November 26, 1945.
Upon his return home, Emil married Lillian Kvetensky on June 27, 1946, at the New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. Emil worked for a short time at Wagner Mills in Schuyler, and then went to work at Frank Prazek & Son Garage in Clarkson from 1946 – 1961. In 1961, Emil went to work for the Farmers Union Co-Op Gas Company in Clarkson. He retired in 1985 after 24 years of service. Emil would help out part time for the next five years.
Emil was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher for over 50 years, and was a trustee from 1969 – 1971. He was a life time member of the VFW Post 6419 in Clarkson. Emil loved baseball (especially the Boston Red Sox’s), softball, watching women’s sports and westerns on TV, and working in and sharing produce from his garden.
