True Republican, 20 September 1893

A sad accident occurred on the John Snyder farm in Burlington last Friday evening. The stock watering tank had been filled with about ten inches of water and the men went after the cows. During their absence a two-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gonter, while playing about, fell into the tank and was drowned. It is believed the child had not been in the water more than five minutes when found.

Mr. Gonter is a brother-in-law of Snider, the occupant of the farm, and came here from Kansas only about a month ago.

The funeral services were held at the South Burlington church on Sunday.
