Mary Jewell Carter, 63, of 1611 Bonds Mill Road, Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at her residence. Born July 25, 1939 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Margaret Leathers, Lawrenceburg, and the late William Frederick Drury. She was a retired employee of Kentucky State Government in the Child Support Division and a former employee of Hallmack where she had worked 19 years. She was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: her husband, Roy O. Carter, Lawrenceburg; one son, Freddy (Bonnie) Carter; and a daughter, Janet Carter, both of Lawrenceburg; one sister-in-law, Mary Anna Drury, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Mrs. G. W. (Shirley) Jenkins, Mrs. Ray (Emma Jean) Caldwell, both of Lawrenceburg, and Mrs. Anthony (Judy) Gash, Burgin; one brother, Garland Leathers, Salvisa; two grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Oscar Drury.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 10, at the Gash Memorial Chapel in Lawrenceburg with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial was in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Troy Robinson, Donald Dotson, Marc Carter, Clarence Sharp Jr., Elsby Robinson, Bob Riddle, James Allen Hawkins and Barry Robinson. Honorary bearers were members of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class of Sand Spring Baptist Church.
