Ernest enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and moved back home after his enlistment where he was employed and retired after 30 years of working at the Eastern Fine Paper Inc. in Brewer.
He was a kind-hearted, gentle and caring man who saw the good in every person he encountered. Ernest enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing his guitar and watching the hummingbirds.
Ernest was a member of The American Legion, Narraguagus Post 8 in Cherryfield. He was also a devoted, long time member of the Harrington Baptist Church where he considered the entire congregation to be a part of his family.
Ernest is survived by his sisters, Hazel Anderson and her partner Preston Smith of Cherryfield; Lillian Strout and her husband Alton of Milbridge. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Ernest will be greatly missed by his neighbor Joanne Beal, who visited faithfully always bringing him goodies to curb his sweet tooth.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Evelyn Tibbetts; brothers Roland and Earl Corliss; and a special nephew Marvin Anderson.
Donations can be made in his memory to Harrington Baptist Church, 1 Forrest Hill Street Harrington, Maine 04643. Services will be announced at later date. Committal with military honors will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cherryfield. (Bangor Daily News 6/22 & 7/29/2015)
