Leland Richard Welty, 83, of Gladstone, Mo passed away July 27, 2015. Funeral services are 1:00 pm Friday July 31st at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2003 NE Englewood Rd. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at Terrace Park Lakeside Chapel, 169 Hwy & Shoal Creek Parkway, with a Mic-O-Say ceremony at 7:30 pm. Burial in Terrace Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the church or Boy Scouts of America Camping Fund.
Leland was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1949 graduate of Fremont High School in Fremont, Nebraska, and an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA for 35 years at the Kansas City Control Center. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the Northland Optimist Club, and was involved with the Boys Scouts of America for many years, where he was a member of the tribe of Mic-O- Say. On June 17, 1950, Leland married Beverly Jean. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, a son, Mitchel Welty, and son-in-law, Michael T. Brixey.
